On 6 February, the RMA Trends in Action event took place at the MrWork office. With around 40 visitors, we took a closer look at the results from the MrWork RMA Trends Report 2025, exchanged experiences and Jildert Huitema inspired us with an interesting session on the future of work. An afternoon in which networking, inspiration and practical tips came together!

A deep dive into the RMA Trends Report

Around half past three, the MrWork office fills up with guests. A great mix of clients, business contacts, partners and freelancers who are part of our community. We kick off the programme with a presentation by Mees, in which he goes through the key insights from the RMA Trends Report.

Jaap and Joost will then take over to focus on two key challenges that emerged from the research: a lack of insight into data and a recruitment (marketing) team that is too small. They’ll offer practical tips on how to make your data more meaningful and highlight the KPIs you should definitely be tracking. They’ll also suggest specific steps you can take to improve productivity within your team, so that you can still achieve great results with a smaller team.

The world of work

In HR and recruitment teams across many organisations, the focus is on labour shortages, equal opportunities and well-being at work. As founder of consultancy firm ImpactWork, Jildert Huitema deals with sustainable HR issues on a daily basis and takes us on a journey through the forces shaping the world of work. During the session – in which Jildert challenged the audience with thought-provoking questions – we discussed:

  • Ageing and shortages: shortages are here to stay, partly due to an ageing population. This requires making strategic choices and integrated planning.
  • Automation and technology: repetitive tasks are becoming increasingly automated, making digital skills increasingly important.
  • Work becomes more flexible: we organise work in new ways, for example remotely and in flexible forms (secondment, on-call workers, platform jobs), so that it can be combined with other needs and ambitions.
  • Learning new skills: the skills needed for work are changing faster than ever and skill-based organising of work is the path many organisations are taking.

Chatting afterwards is just as important

An event is not complete without a good drink afterwards! After all the sessions, everyone stuck around to make new contacts, have interesting discussions on the topics covered in the sessions and share experiences with each other. We asked some attendees the question "What do you think is the most important recruitment trend for 2025?". Check out their answers below:

Prefer to read? Some insights from attendees:

  • "I expect employers to start linking their training offerings to recruitment, using these growth opportunities to persuade candidates to choose them." - Jochem van der Linden, LT Group
  • "We focus on proper qualification of candidates. By asking the right questions at the beginning of the process, we can gain a lot." - Hugo Jelier & Julia Kooijman, Greenstaff
  • "In 2025, the candidate is more in control of the job market than ever before. The candidate knows that there is always a better deal to be had and as a recruiter you have to respond well to that." - Lennaert Buschma, Sopra Steria
  • "The labour market crunch is only going to get worse and you have no choice but to prepare for this by implementing solutions in the areas of AI, recruitment marketing automation and skill-based hiring." - Hugo de Reus, HTM

So everyone went home with new inspiration, connections and insights. Afternoon successful!
