As a Backend Developer, you help build the core of that platform. You work in a modern tech environment with an experienced engineering team, where quality, scalability and pragmatic collaboration are key. You’ll work with plenty of ownership, freedom, and the opportunity to make real impact.
Your role as Backend Developer
In this role, you develop and maintain backend functionality that powers our platform. You collaborate closely with other developers, QA, AI engineers and Product to deliver features end-to-end. As part of our backend team, you help ensure that our systems remain fast, reliable and scalable – while continuously improving architecture and code quality.
Responsibilities
- Develop, improve and maintain scalable PHP/Symfony applications.
- Design and build RESTful APIs and integrations with external systems.
- Optimize applications for performance, security, reliability and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues, bugs and bottlenecks.
- Work with Docker and containerized environments, and assist in CI/CD initiatives.
- Collaborate with Product, Frontend, QA and AI teams for smooth end-to-end delivery.
- Stay up-to-date with modern development techniques, tools and AI-assisted workflows.
What you bring
- 3+ years of experience as a PHP Developer, preferably with Symfony.
- Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns and modern PHP architecture.
- Hands-on experience building REST APIs.
- Experience with Docker and containerized development.
- Basic knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) or willingness to deepen this skill.
- Decent English communication skills.
- Daily use of AI coding tools.

You’ll work from our beautiful office at Kop van Zuid in Rotterdam, with the flexibility to work remotely part of the week. You’ll join an international and friendly development team with strong processes, a stable OTAP environment and a mature codebase.
